December was such a fun month and I am a little bit sad it is over! I was definitely not ready for all of the holiday cheer to be gone again until next year, because it just seemed to go by so quickly. Here what went on for us in December…
At the beginning of the month, we got a few inches of snow, so Liv got to play in it for the first time. She was even able to throw some snowballs! Her winter coat that I got her specifically for playing outside since she can’t wear it in the carseat came in just days before this, so it was perfect timing! Hooray for Black Friday sales!
And I just love this little lamb hat!
Our Elf on the Shelf, Mistle, made her first appearance this year. When choosing her name we thought it would be cute because it is short for Mistletoe, and didn’t think anything else of it. Then one morning I was typing her name in a text message to Alex so he would remember what it was when Livie woke up, and the word auto-corrected to ‘Missile.’ Uhhh whoops! It never, ever crossed my mind. I decided I didn’t care and we would just stick with it.
I wasn’t sure if Liv would really get into it, but she loved finding her each morning and would always go to her and point to her throughout the day. It was so fun!
We spend a lot of the days leading up to Christmas doing holiday things, such as decorating a gingerbread tree together. Once Liv realized she couldn’t eat the ornaments, she was a great little helper. She also loved helping to wrap presents, and really loved her first taste of Christmas cookies!!
We also tried Santa one more time, and it went slightly better than last time, but only because she was clutching to me and I couldn’t let her go. She did point at him and say “Ho Ho Ho” so I don’t think she is totally afraid of him, just doesn’t want to sit on his lap.
On Christmas Eve we celebrated one of my good friend’s 30th birthday. Can you believe the sass from Liv in this picture?!?!?! No clue where that came from!
Later in the day on Christmas Eve we went to my parents house to have dinner and visit. We had a great time with my parents and my relatives that were here visiting from Germany. We didn’t make it to church on Christmas Eve, which made me a little sad because it is my favorite tradition. I don’t know if we have ever missed a Christmas Eve service, but the times just didn’t work with Livia’s nap and our dinner plans.
Christmas morning was THE BEST! Livia had the cutest reaction when she came out to the living room! She just kept saying ‘ooohhhh’ in a surprised tone. I am so glad she got it on video! Livie’s big gift from Santa was a teepee that lights up. She loved playing in it!
For the rest of the day we just hung out with family, enjoyed a big Christmas dinner, and relaxed.
We enjoyed a low key but fun New Year’s Eve with friends, and are ready for a new year, new goals, and new exciting things for us this year!
