Even though it’s a shorter month, February was packed with a lot of fun for us, and even a big mom milestone for me. Unfortunately, our February started out with some sickness, which left us all home for the Superbowl, but we had a great time just relaxing. And of course, we still made some of our tailgating favorites. Even though Liv had her first ear infection, and her team wasn’t playing in the Superbowl, she was still a happy girl.
And man does she sure knows how to kick back and relax!
I passed a huge mom milestone this month of being apart from Livia overnight. For three night actually. I went to Chicago for a work conference, and was so anxious about leaving her leading up to it. When I said goodbye to Livia and Alex, I felt myself getting a little teary, but since there was a group of my coworkers at the train station with me, I was quickly distracted and then was fine. I think I was more emotional thinking about leaving, than actually leaving.
We stayed in a beautiful hotel, and I lucked with a room that had the most amazing view overlooking the river and Lake Michigan. The sunrises were the best!
We were gone for 3 days, and over Valentine’s Day, so I was a little bummed to be away from my family for that. But we celebrated with a special Valentine’s breakfast before I left, and was able to FaceTime at least a few times a day.
Even though it was a work trip, and was hard to leave my girl for the first time, it was a refreshing getaway where I got to know my coworkers better, learned a lot, and got my teacher heart filled with inspiration. Conferences like that are always so motivational, and affirming that I am in the right profession.
After coming home from the conference, the weather warmed up to the 60’s and even 70’s, so we enjoyed some fun outside playing at the park in our neighborhood. This girl loves to run around and her newest hobby is collecting wood chips.
Last month I wrote about our trip to a children’s museum while visiting Alex’s parents. Well this month we visited the Children’s Discovery Museum in a nearby town while tagging along with Alex while he was working one weekend. This one was not quite as interactive for kids Livia’s age, but she still loved to run around and explore what she could.
And finally the end of February brought an exciting announcement…
At first she was a little unsure…
…but then Livia got excited to share that she is going to be a big sister!! We are so excited to announce that we will be expecting our second child in September! Since I am an only child, Livia now has a title that I never had. And while I felt a little anxious about how this will affect her world, we are so excited to be growing our family! I plan to do pregnancy updates on the blog, so stay tuned for those to follow our journey.
