If you are like me (and Livia) you are ready to break out of the house like ALL the time with this warmer weather. My busy little toddler is not content to just hang around the house anymore. Her new thing is to exclaim “PLAY” with desperation all day everyday. She has absolutely loved it when we have been able to go outside, even if it’s just running around in the backyard with the dogs, so I have been thinking of more activities we can do outside.
Go to a new park: The park we have gone to a few times this Spring isn’t really new, it’s at the end of our street, but this is the first time that Livie can really run around and enjoy being there, so it is kind of new for her. She used to just love to swing since it was really the only thing she could do there, but now she loves to run through the wood chips, stop to collect them, and go down the slides.
Sidewalk Chalk: Livia has really gotten into coloring lately, she even left evidence of it for everyone to see on the tile when they walk in our front door (insert eye roll emoji). I got her some sidewalk chalk for her Easter basket, and I can’t wait for her to try it out!
Bubble Machine: Livia and the dogs LOVE our bubble machine! She got this one for her birthday, and asks for it all the time. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen us doing the bubble machine inside a few times this winter when it was especially cold, and there was no chance of us leaving the house.
Sensory Table: It still is a little to chilly here in the Midwest for a water table, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still bring it out and turn it into a sensory table! After visiting a pumpkin patch last fall, we got the idea to fill ours (this one from Step 2) with dry corn, and put lots of scoops, cups, and containers in there for Livie to explore with. You could also fill any type of box or container with dried rice or beans and do the same thing.
Lunch Picnic: I am so excited to have picnics outside with Livie with Spring. There is just something so fun about eating outside when the weather is beautiful. I think this Splat Mat from Bumkins would be the perfect picnic blanket for a toddler because of how easily it can be wiped clean and even thrown in the washer if necessary. And if you didn’t already know, grey chevron is right up my alley! I will be ordering one soon.
Comment below with any other ideas you like to do outside with your little one, I would love to try them out with Livia!
